J. Geils arrested and charged with drunk driving following crash

CONCORD, Mass., Sept. 22 (UPI) — John Geils, musician and founder of the J. Geils Band, was arrested Tuesday and charged with drunk driving following a crash outside of Boston.

Geils, 70, was arraigned on Wednesday and charged with operating under the influence of alcohol and failing to stop at a stop sign in the afternoon crash.

Geils was released on his own recognizance and ordered not to drive or consume alcohol.

The J. Geils Band rose to fame in the 1980s with songs like, “Centerfold,” “Freeze Frame,” and “Love Stinks.”
