LOS ANGELES, Nov. 16 (UPI) — Katie Holmes was feeling hopeful when she posted a new photo of her daughter on Monday.
The 37-year-old actress shared a picture of Suri Cruise, her 10-year-old daughter with ex-husband Tom Cruise, and encouraged fans to keep fighting for a better world in the caption.
“Strong little girls that will become strong women. Let’s keep fighting to make it a better world for our children,” she wrote to her 617,000 followers on Instagram.
Holmes had “#strongwomen” on the brain again the same day on the set of her directorial debut, “All We Had.” She revealed to “Entertainment Tonight” in October that Suri inspired her involvement with the movie.
“She gets a special thanks for everything, [for] every job I do, because she makes every day great and awesome and better,” the star gushed. “I know myself better because of her.”
“All We Had” stars Holmes and Stefania LaVie Owen as Rita and Ruthie Carmichael, a struggling single mom and daughter who move to a small town. The actress told ET her relationship with Suri helped her connect with the story.
“Every mom can relate,” she said. “The mother-daughter theme [of] that unending love that you have for your mother and for your child is universal.”
“All We Had” is based on the Annie Weatherwax novel of the same name, and opens in theaters Dec. 9. Holmes is also slated to reprise Jackie Kennedy in the Reelz miniseries “The Kennedys: After Camelot.”
