OGDEN, Utah, April 24, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — Firefighters were dispatched to a single-family house fire early Wednesday, and evacuated 12 residents and one dog.

Crews were called to the scene, on the 500 block of Monroe Boulevard, Ogden, and found the single-story house with flames and smoke showing on the outside of the residence.

“The flames appeared to be extending into the home,” says a statement issued by the Ogden City Fire Department. “The structure was quickly searched and evacuated; firefighters had water on the fire within minutes.

“Another home was threatened by the fire; however, the quick actions of the firefighters contained the fire to the original structure.”

The dozen people displaced are staying with family members, the statement says. Crews were able to rescue one dog, “but sadly another perished in the fire.”

Besides Ogden City Fire, North View Fire crews responded. Twenty firefighters were on the scene with one ladder truck, four engines, one ambulance and one paramedic truck, and one battalion chief.

“The fire is being investigated and the building is being secured,” the news release says. “There is an estimated $350,000 in damage. We are grateful no firefighters or civilians were injured.”
