1 dead in Magna traffic accident

MAGNA, Utah, Nov. 12, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Officials are on the scene of a fatal crash in Magna Monday morning.

A tweet from Unified Police Department said the incident occurred at 4100 South and Highway 111, which is 8400 West, at approximately 10 a.m.

Unified Police Department officials said a witness reported a car slammed into a metal pole that holds a traffic light at a high rate of speed. The vehicle then burst into flames.

Police have not yet been able to identify whether the victim is male or female.

No other vehicles were involved in the incident.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.

A tweet from the Utah Department of Transportation said Highway 111 is closed in both directions in that area and drivers are being urged to find alternate routes.
