HOLLADAY, Utah, Feb. 22, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — The Unified Police Department is asking for the public’s help identifying a suspect who reportedly robbed a bank Wednesday afternoon.

UPD spokesman Lt. Brian Lohrke said the robbery occurred at the U.S. Bank at 1998 E. Murray Holladay Road (4800 South) at approximately 2:30 p.m.

The suspect entered the bank and demanded money, Lohrke said, but did not brandish a weapon. After receiving money, he fled the bank on foot in an unknown direction.

The suspect is described as an unknown race, in his 20s, approximately 6 feet tall, with a slim build, wearing a baseball hat, sunglasses, a blue sweater, and shorts.

Police thought the suspect may have headed to the area of the Macy’s at 4835 Highland Dr., which is just southwest of the U.S. Bank and is next to Big Cottonwood Regional Park.

Lohkre said a state police helicopter as well as a K-9 Unit from Cottonwood Heights Police Department joined the search, but the suspect was not located.

He added there has been an upswing in bank robberies in the UPD area, but this suspect does not fit the description of that involved in any of the other crimes.

Anyone who has information about the suspect in this robbery is asked to contact the UPD at 801-743-7000.
