BEAVER COUNTY, Utah, July 26, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Officials in Beaver County are searching for a 13-year-old boy who ran away from a program for “wayward youth” located in a remote desert area.

The Beaver County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release Thursday that officials received a call for assistance from The Redcliff Ascent, informing them that the juvenile had run away from the program located in western Beaver County.

The boy, who police identified as Roberto Madrigal, is form California and had been in the program for a month. When he went missing, he was wearing tan shorts and a brown cargo shirt, police said.

The Beaver County Sheriff’s Office search and rescue team has deployed 12-15 searchers, trackers, vehicles and the state helicopter to search for the boy.

The news release said the teen is believed to have water, but dehydration is a concern because of the hot temperatures.

Anyone that is camping in the West Desert near Pine Valley and Rose Canyon is asked to be on the lookout for the boy and to contact their local law enforcement if he is seen.

Beaver County Sheriff’s Office non-emergency number is 435-438-2466.
