MURRAY, Utah, July 23, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — Unified Police officers said Sunday the body recovered from the Jordan River Friday was that of a female in her mid-to-late 30s.

UPD added in a tweet that there is no identity on the victim as yet.

Recovery teams from Unified Police and the Unified Fire Authority retrieved the body from the Jordan River near 4500 South, after was first discovered about 2 p.m. by a group of hikers who were walking along the Jordan River Parkway.

Investigators told Gephardt Daily the body was in a remote stretch of the river with steep banks and heavy vegetation, making the recovery operation more difficult.

Firefighters used cameras attached to a hook-and-ladder truck to try and pinpoint the body’s location.

Gephardt Daily will have more on this developing story as information becomes available.
