BREAKING NEWS: LDS Church Names New President To Quorum Of Twelve
SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH – July 15, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) – The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has announced the appointment of a new president to the Quorum of Twelve Apostles.
According to a statement released Wednesday afternoon, Russell M. Nelson was officially called to the position by LDS Church President Thomas S. Monson.
President Nelson succeeds the late President Boyd K. Packer who passed away July 3rd.The Quorum of the Twelve Apostles is the second-highest presiding body in LDS Church hierarchy. Its members serve under the direction of a body known as the First Presidency which is described as a governing unit consisting of three men — the president and two counselors. In addition to their ecclesiastical duties, the apostles have top administrative responsibilities overseeing the orderly progress and development of the global church.(DEVELOPING)
