VINEYARD, Utah, July 22, 2026 (Gephardt Daily) — A single-vehicle crash left the driver hospitalized early Tuesday morning and several blocks of roadway closed for repairs.
This morning, July 21, at 1:44 a.m., a driver was traveling on 1600 North at a high rate of speed, the Utah County Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday.
The driver left the roadway at 250 West and damaged various power poles, a fence and other property in the area, as well as causing substantial damage to the vehicle.
The driver, sole occupant of the car, was transported to a local area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. “While it is evident that speed was a factor in the accident, the exact cause is still under investigation.”
Due to the level of property damage, including to area power lines, 1600 North is closed at the railway crossing near the Lindon Boat harbor. Drivers can access the Lindon Boat harbor from Vineyard Road from the Vineyard Connector.
At noon the sheriff’s office said it was unknown how long the roadway will need to be closed so power lines can be repaired.
