Draper Police lieutenant retires after complaint filed, investigation begun

DRAPER, Utah, March 22, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Draper City Police Lt. Chad Carpenter has announced his retirement after being put on administrative leave during a complaint investigation.

The nature of the complaint filed against Carpenter was not been revealed.

“On March 13, 2019, Draper City received a complaint against Lieutenant Chad Carpenter regarding possible policy violations,” a statement from Draper City says.

“As per Draper City policy, the city immediately started an investigation. This matter is now being investigated by Draper City and the Unified Police Department.

“When the city was notified of this complaint, it took immediate action and placed Lieutenant Chad Carpenter on administrative leave. Lt. Carpenter has been with the Draper Police Department since 2003. On March 21, 2019, Lt. Carpenter submitted a Notice of Retirement letter.”

The investigation will continue, Draper City’s statement says.

“Draper City supports the investigation process and follows its policies and procedures. In order to protect the integrity of the investigation, Draper City does not comment on personnel matters.”
