LEHI, Utah, July 13, 2016 (Gepahrdt Daily) — A fast moving fire ripped through a dentist’s office in Lehi late Tuesday night.

Lehi Fire Chief Jeremy Craft said a passerby saw smoke coming from the building located at 300 E. 100 North just before 10 p.m.

Thirty five firefighters responded to the two-alarm blaze but were having a difficult time gaining control of the fire an hour after arriving and turned the fire into a defensive attack just as the roof collapsed.

The office sits in the middle of a residential neighborhood but it is not known if any other structures were affected.

The cause of the fire has not been determined, but Craft posted on his twitter page that employees thought they smelled smoke before leaving at 5 p.m.

There has not been any estimate on damage. As soon are more information becomes available an update will be provided.

  1. Owners checked the office when they were leaving and called other tenants to come over and check due to smells at the end of their day.( 7pm) They did call the fire department for a second opinion who did not pick up because they were on another fire. They concluded possible smoldering leaves from tar pavement recently laid must’ve been the culprit for the smells, so it appeared to be a non emergency. Little did they know or had any evidence(no smoke no flames etc) to suspect fire smoldering in the roof from electrical issues between an old and new roof void.
