SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Sept. 8, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — A former Salt Lake City day care owner charged with Felony 1 aggravated sex abuse of a child in a case that allegedly took place almost two decades ago, when the alleged victim was 5 years old, has turned himself in to police.

Detectives obtained the arrest warrant for Ward Allen Bushman late Tuesday, based on a case that allegedly occurred from 1998 to 1999, according to Salt Lake City Police Department Det. Greg Wilking. Bushman turned himself in to police Wednesday evening.

Wilking said the charge is the culmination of a year-and-a-half investigation. The alleged victim only recently came forward to report the abuse.

Detectives also believe there may be other victims of Bushman who have not yet been identified. Detectives are asking any such victims to come forward to share their stories.

From 1998 to 1999, it is alleged Bushman touched a 5-year-old girl inappropriately at a day care he and his wife ran out of their home, on Commonwealth Avenue, Wilking said.

No charges have been filed against Bushman’s wife as of Thursday.

The Police Department asks anyone who may be a victim of Bushman to call 801-799-3000. Anonymous texts may sent to 274637. Please start the text with TIPSLCPD, which routes it to the police department. Then include any relevant information. Reference: case #14-91905.
