Hazmat Crews Called After DUI Traffic Accident Downtown

SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH – May 20, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) – Hazmat crews were called to a traffic accident at 60 W. North Temple last night at 10:40 p.m.

Driver Juan Carlos Batalla, 19, was driving westbound on North Temple when he lost control of his vehicle. He struck several traffic posts before crashing into the front of City Creek Mall. Batalla was processed for driving under the influence. Hazmat and the health department were called to the scene as a precaution. The fire department responded for a minor fluid leak from the vehicle. Batalla was booked into jail for DUI, negligent collision. He was uninjured.
