HERRIMAN, Utah, Aug. 29, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A Herriman girl was Life Flighted to Primary Children’s Hospital on Thursday after she jumped from a moving delivery truck and hit her head on the roadway.

Sgt. Greg Shaver, Herriman City Police Department, said the girl apparently saw a delivery truck that was stopped on Thursday morning, and climbed onboard while the driver had stepped away.

“She decided to jump on the back while it was stopped,” Shaver said. “The driver left, and at this point, we speculate that he did not know the child was on the back of the truck.

“The child decided to jump off, losing balance or not being able to jump off securely, fell and hit her head.”

The child, whose age was not disclosed, then went to find her mother.

“They called Unified Fire and she was assessed, and it was determined — due to the head injury — to Life Flight her Primary Children’s Hospital.”

The girl was conscious, breathing and alert, Shaver said.

“I think this is more precautionary, to make sure there was no more serious injury,” he said.
