HURRICANE, UT, March 29, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) – After making international headlines, a bull perched atop a restaurant sign, has become a little less of a man. Owners of the Barista’s, say the over sized penis was not removed because of complaints, but for artistic reasons. “The famous weenie’s gone,” Barista’s Restaurant Owner Stephen Ward said Friday afternoon, “but the reason I did it is because I didn’t like it.”

In an article posted in St George News, the $130,000 sculpture of a bull that is perched on the upper most part of the restaurant’s million dollar sign, caught Ward’s attention in Las Vegas.

It just so happens, that the controversy got Ward to looking at the whole thing differently. It was then he saw that the gigantic genitalia piece wasn’t adding to the sculpture, but covering up the beautiful plate work and belly of the bull. “I saw that beautiful sculpture in Vegas and bought it and I was just thinking about it and, this morning, after it being up for a couple weeks – it has nothing to do with the city at all – I said ‘you know what, I’m gonna have that penis taken off so you can see more of the beautiful (bull). I love the joints and the plate work, you know, instead of that atrocious, well that party hat. It was so stupid because it looks like a party hat,” says Ward.

Although the fight with the city and it’s residents has been controversial, it has not all bee bad. According to Ward’s wife, Pamela, the vindictive and slanderous comments made publicly by some Hurricane City residents in attempt to make Barista’s Restaurant go out of business, has only worked against those residents. “We’re still busy from it. People came in here – people love controversy, you know – they love it and they want to see what’s going on; and they’ll come in here and they’ll say ‘wow, we came in just because we read this article’ so it really helped us a lot. It did. It gave us probably double or triple the business for this time of the year, and the beautiful weather, too.”
