Intoxicated suspect arrested for possessing a stolen handgun outside Vernal library

VERNAL, Utah, Oct. 15, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — An allegedly intoxicated suspect was arrested outside the Uintah County Library in Vernal Monday after a report that he had a handgun and was acting suspiciously.

A news release from Vernal Police Department on Facebook said officers responded to the library at 204 E. 100 North. Upon arrival officers made contact with Vernal resident Thomas Edward Lackey, 39, outside the library.

“During the contact it was determined that Lackey unlawfully possessed a handgun which had previously been reported stolen,” the news release said.

Lackey was placed under arrest and booked into the Uintah County Jail for possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a firearm by a restricted person, possession of a firearm by an intoxicated person, intoxication, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
