Large Gas Leak Evacuates Several Businesses in Roy
ROY, UTAH – July 9, 2015 (Gepahrdt Daily) – A major gas line break caused the evacuation and shut down of several businesses Thursday afternoon in Roy.
According to Deputy Chief Jeff Comeau, Roy Fire Department, a concrete company that was coring the sidewalk near 1900 West and 5600 South dug through a main gas line that runs through a heavy business district forcing them to evacuate businesses in the area.
“We had to evacuate eight different businesses while Questar crews work to secure the area and clamp down the lines,” said Comeau. “No one was injured thankfully but it did cause a quite a bit of a mess.”
Cormeau said they are hoping to have the businesses back up around 2 p.m. but are not sure at this time exactly how long the repairs are going to take.
