SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, March 14, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A man was transported to a local hospital after his car collided with a building, a tree and a power pole Thursday in Salt Lake City.

The accident was called in to dispatch at 1:54 p.m., and Salt Lake City police and fire officials responded to the scene, at the intersection of 900 South and West Temple.

“He came off the Interstate 15 northbound exit at 900 South, lost control, and hit a building, a pine tree and a power pole,” Capt. Adam Archuleta, Salt Lake Fire Department, told Gephardt Daily. “The car came to rest on the other side of the intersection.”

The man, alone in the car, was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Archuleta said the building which was hit was currently unoccupied and under reconstruction.

Witnesses at the scene told investigators that the man may have hit additional vehicles before exiting the interstate, Archuleta said. The investigation is ongoing.

Traffic is being diverted around the scene, the SLCFD tweet said, and drivers should avoid the area or expect delays.

Gephardt Daily will have more on the story as information becomes available.
