PROVO, Utah, Sept. 13, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — One man is dead and rush hour traffic was delayed after a man apparently jumped from the Provo Parkway and landed on the roadway below.

The report came in at 5:52 a.m. of a body on northbound Interstate 15, a statement from Utah Highway Patrol says.

“A male in his early 20s was found deceased between the No. 2 and 3 lanes,” the statement says. “It appears that the individual may have jumped from the 269 structure, where he was struck by several vehicles traveling northbound.

“At this point, we have no witnesses to the event. Due to the lane closures, traffic is backed up several miles. SBI is assisting with the investigation process.”

As of 9:30 a.m., all lanes of traffic had been reopened, but residual delays remained, a UHP statement says.

The man’s death has been classified as a possible suicide. Gephardt Daily does not normally report suicides unless they impact the public at large.
