SAN JUAN COUNTY, Utah, Sept. 8, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A man from Iron County died Saturday in a motorcycle accident on State Route 191, in San Juan County.
The accident happened at about 2 p.m. near mile marker 81, north of Monticello, Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Michael Gordon told Gephardt Daily.
The victim has been identified as Robin Smith, 67, of Parowan, Gordon said.
“He was a single male rider, traveling southbound,” the trooper said. “For whatever reason, he failed to negotiate a curve. He went off the road and sustained fatal injuries.”
Smith was wearing a helmet, and investigators do not suspect any impairment, Gordon said, adding that it’s possible a medical condition may have contributed to the accident.
“The investigation is still underway,” Gordon said.
