Man stabbed multiple times during altercation in Midvale

MIDVALE, Utah, Nov. 2, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A man was transported to the hospital in extremely serious condition after he was stabbed during an altercation late Friday night.

Unified Police Lt. Manfred Lassig said the incident happened at 11:55 p.m. at 7915 S. Main St.

Two men were involved in an argument in the driveway at that address, when the suspect pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim in the upper torso and neck, Lassig said. When police arrived, the victim was bleeding severely from the neck wound.

The victim, who is in his early 40s, was transported in extremely serious condition to the trauma center at Intermountain Medical Center, where he later was upgraded to poor condition, Lassig said. He is expected to survive.

The suspect, a black male who was wearing all black, fled westbound on Main Street.

Police set up a containment perimeter and K-9 officers were brought in, but a search of the area failed to locate the suspect.

At this time it’s unknown if the incident is gang-related.

Lassig said the two men know each other, and officials will interview the victim in the next day or two to get the suspect’s name and find out what exactly happened.

Gephardt Daily will update this story as more information becomes known.
