MANTI, Utah, June 1, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — A black bear wandering the southwest part of Manti Tuesday caught the attention of residents, who, in turn, caught the attention of local law enforcement agencies.

Calls came in to the Sanpete Sheriff’s Department and the Ephraim Police Department, and deputies and a police officer arrived with four cars to herd the Urus americanus almost a mile, back to its home in the hills of central Utah.

A Division of Wildlife Resource officer took over “custody” of the cinnamon-colored bear from the foothills onward.
