N. Salt Lake Police: Man on stolen motorcycle crashes during chase on 1-15

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Aug. 15, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A man allegedly fleeing police on a stolen motorcycle was seriously injured early Thursday morning after hitting a traffic barrier and then a car on southbound I-15.

North Salt Lake Police Sgt. Cade Veigel told Gephardt Daily the crash happened about 12:30 a.m. after police spotted a motorcycle that was the subject of an attempt-to-locate call out of Farmington.

Officers from North Salt Lake gave chase as the motorcycle pulled away, headed toward Salt Lake City on Highway 89.

The bike had just merged onto I-15 when it hit the barrier and another vehicle.

The fleeing suspect was thrown from the motorcycle and suffered significant injuries. He was taken by ground ambulance to a nearby hospital in serious but stable condition.

The suspect’s identity has yet to be released.

There were no other reports of injuries.
