WEBER COUNTY, Utah, Jan. 4, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — New details have been released in the arrest of a Weber County Sheriff’s corporal assigned to work at county jail.
Jeremy Clark Miller, 41, was booked into the Box Elder County Jail (to avoid a conflict of interest) on five counts of custodial sexual relations, each a third-degree felony.
“For approximately four months between August and November, Corporal Jeremy Miller was in charge of supervising female state inmates at the Keisel Correctional Facility for the Weber County Sheriff’s Office,” says a probable cause statement filed Thursday.
“During a separate internal investigation the Weber County Sheriff’s Office discovered information that there was a deputy that was having sexual relations with inmates at the facility.”
The WCSO contacted the Weber County Prosecutors Office to conduct an independent investigation, the statement says.
“During that investigation two female inmates stated that they had sexual intercourse with Corporal Jeremy Miller while in the jail. One inmate said that she had intercourse over 10 times while in the facility, the other inmate said she had sexual intercourse one time in the facility. Both claim the sexual conduct was consensual.”
Miller admitted to having consensual sex with inmates, the statement says, but lied about providing an inmate with his cell phone number “so she could call him after she was released so they could have a romantic relationship.”
Miller also told investigators he did not use condoms, but a search warrant served on his personal vehicle turned up condoms, the statement says.
Miller was placed on administrative leave on Dec. 10. His initial court appearance is scheduled for Monday.
Clearly, they were both consenting adults. What’s the big deal? It’s not like just because a woman is put into jail that she suddenly is unable to make her own decisions! She wanted it, just as he did! Bet she didn’t get more time for being a s!π+… Freedom of speech and whatnot. I’m just saying, it’s not as if he forced her!
