HARRISVILLE, Utah, March 23, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A man is in critical condition after being shot multiple times by officers responding to a domestic disturbance call Saturday morning in Harrisville.

According to a statement issued by the Harrisville Police Department, officers from Harrisville, Pleasant View and North Ogden police departments were dispatched at 5:26 a.m. Saturday on a domestic disturbance call. Officers responded to an apartment complex at 2510 N. Charleston Ave.

“Upon arrival, officers were confronted by a male subject wielding a knife in each hand,” the police statement says.

“The subject advanced on the officers despite repeated commands to stop. A Taser deployment failed, and the subject was shot multiple times. He was taken by Northview Fire to McKay Dee Hospital in critical condition.”

A multi-agency task force, led by the Weber County Attorney’s Office, will conduct the Officer Involved Shooting Investigation to determine if the use of force was justified.

Independent internal investigations will be conducted by each individual department to determine if officers followed protocol and adhered to policy regarding the use of deadly force, the statement says.

“Officers involved have been placed on administrative leave,” the Harrisville Police statement says. “There is a history of domestic abuse at the address in question.”
