PERRY, Utah, Dec. 5, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) — Utah Highway Patrol officials say two adults and three children were taken to hospitals after a crash on southbound I-15 near Perry at 3:55 p.m. Friday.

Traffic had slowed for two minor accidents near milepost 360, according to the UHP. Traffic backed up and came to a stop near the Perry rest area. A 2014 White Ford Focus following a 2013 Gray Ford Fusion had both slowed to a near stop due to traffic.

A press release from UHP said: “A black 2008 Ford Expedition was southbound coming into the slowed traffic. The Expedition changed lanes and failed to notice the stopped traffic. The SUV ran into the rear of the Ford Focus at near freeway speeds.

“The Ford Focus was pushed into the median. The Expedition then struck the back of the Ford Fusion.”

The female driver of the SUV and her three children were transported to the Brigham Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Ford Fusion was checked out by EMS at the scene and released. The driver of the Ford Focus, 43-year-old Jesse McKenney, from Victor, Idaho, suffered severe injuries. He was initially transported to McKay Dee Hospital in Ogden, but passed away later Friday night.
