Police search for suspect after carjacking outside Salt Lake City gas station

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Dec. 12, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — Police are searching for a suspect after a woman said she was carjacked outside a Salt Lake City gas station early Sunday morning.

The incident happened at about 12:40 a.m. at the Chevron at 1704 W. North Temple St., according to a news release from the Salt Lake City Police Department.

The woman entered the gas station and remembered that she had left her keys in her car, the news release said. She returned to get them and was approached by a man who asked for some change. The victim entered the vehicle to look for some change and was then shoved to the ground by the suspect who then got into the vehicle and drove away.

The suspect is described as Hispanic, with a tan coat, black hat and a tattoo on his neck.
