HOLLADAY, Utah, Jan. 27, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Police are searching for a group of men after an alleged assault outside Churchill Junior High School Friday night.

Unified Police Department Sgt. Melody Gray told Gephardt Daily that officials were called to the incident in the area of 3450 E. Oakview Drive just after 10 p.m.

The male juvenile was with a female when they were approached by a group of men. Gray said it’s not clear at this time exactly how many men approached the juveniles. The only description of the suspects is that they are black.

The group of men assaulted the male juvenile and took his cellphone and wallet. They also tried to leave with the male juvenile’s car, but were not successful.

It’s not clear at this time whether the female juvenile was assaulted.

The group of men then fled from the scene in a vehicle, described as a silver Hyundai Elantra with a New Mexico license plate labeled NPD333.

Police in Sandy found a group in the Hyundai Elantra and attempted to take them into custody, however, the men fled the scene and police were not able to catch them. Midvale Unified Police Department also spotted the group, but also could not apprehend them.

Anyone who sees the suspect vehicle or has information about the incident is asked to call the UPD at 801-743-7000.
