ROY, Utah, June 10, 2026 (Gephardt Daily) — A week after the Roy City Council canceled the Roy Days fireworks show due to a lack of funding, the show is back on, thanks to a donation.

The show would have cost $33,000, Roy did not have to spend.

“The very next day, I got a text from a good friend of mine, I’ve known his family on both sides for many years, Mike Schultz, and he is funding the fireworks for $35,000,” Roy Mayor Anne Jackson said at Tuesday’s council meeting.

The extra $2,000 donated will go toward making the show “the best in the county,” Jackson said.

The donation comes from the Mike and Melissa Schultz Foundation, established by Utah House Speaker and Roy resident Mike Schultz.

Another resident, who is remaining anonymous, will work to raise the money needed to pay police for working the event.

Roy days includes a run, a golf tournament and other activities in July, and the fireworks and a festival on Aug. 1. Find the full schedule at this link.
