Salt Lake police searching for suspects who grabbed dog, hit owner in head with rock

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Sept. 13, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Salt Lake City police officials are searching for a trio of suspects who stole a dog early Thursday morning, then hit the owner in the head with a rock when he tried to retrieve the pet.

The incident began just before 2 a.m. in the area of the Lowell Apartments at 756 S. 200 East, the Salt Lake City Police Department said in a news release.

“Two males and a female approached the victim in the parking lot of the above location and stole the victim’s dog,” the news release said. “The victim began yelling and caught the attention of a witness who called police. The victim and witness continued to follow the suspects.”

At one point the dog owner was hit in the head with a rock, but despite this, he managed to retrieve the pet. The owner was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

No description of the suspects has been released.
