Shooting In West Valley City Injures One

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah, Dec. 12, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) — A Saturday night shooting in West Valley City sent one person to the hospital.

According to West Valley City Police Lt. Blair Barfus, several calls came in around 8 p.m. with reports of multiple shots fired in the area of 5300 West and 4200 South.

When officers arrived, they found a man in his early 20s with a gunshot wound to the arm. He was transported to the hospital in stable condition.

Detectives searched the area and found a vehicle with multiple gunshots. Investigators conducted interviews and sought information on the shooter or shooters.

Barfus said the motive for the shooting is unknown, as is whether it might be gang-related. Witnesses reported seeing a white vehicle leaving the scene at a high rate of speed.
