GUSHER, UTAH- April 6, 2015 (Gehaprdt Daily) The Bureau of Indian Affairs requested the Utah Highway Patrol assist with a single vehicle accident near 8700 East and Highway 40 in Gusher.

The vehicle, which had five or six male occupants, was fleeing from a BIA officer when it attempted to turn Westbound on SR 40 but was traveling too fast. The vehicle then crossed over all the lanes, went off the north side of the roadway and rolled several times.

Several of the occupants were thrown from the vehicle. Three of the subjects were transported by ambulance to both Roosevelt and Vernal hospitals in critical condition.

One subject, 29 year old Marshall P. Jack from Fort Duchesne, died from his injuries while at the hospital.

The investigation is ongoing, but it is believed that alcohol may be a factor. Police also have no indication that anyone was wearing a seatbelt.

BIA is handling the criminal investigation and related charges.
