SLC firefighters respond to apartment fire in Central City neighborhood

SALT LAKE CITY, Feb. 3, 2026 (Gephardt Daily) — Salt Lake City firefighters responded to an apartment fire Tuesday afternoon in the Central City neighborhood near 110 South 300 East.

Battalion Chief Brandon Jorgensen told Gephardt Daily that crews were dispatched at 4:41 p.m. after alarms sounded and reports came in of heavy smoke coming from a second-floor window of the four-story apartment building.

By 4:46 p.m., the incident was declared a working fire, with multiple crews and approximately 30 firefighters responding to the scene.

Jorgensen said the fire was contained to a single, unoccupied bedroom.

The entire complex was evacuated, but there were no immediate reports of injuries.

The cause of the fire, which caused approximately $50,000 in damage, is under investigation.
