SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, April 1, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A man was arrested Thursday after allegedly turning up to meet up with a 13-year-old who turned out to be an undercover police officer in Salt Lake City.

A probable cause statement from the 3rd District Court of Salt Lake County said Kevin Edward Cote, 31, is facing a charge of second-degree felony enticing a minor by Internet or text.

The probable cause statement said Cote allegedly began chatting over a social media application Thursday.

“The A/P (accused person) learned that the person who he was chatting with was 13 years of age,” the statement said. “During the chat, the A/P asked the person who he believed 13 years old to engage in oral sex.”

The A/P then responded to the area of 200 East and 1500 South in Salt Lake City in order to meet with the minor, and instead was met by undercover officers.

Cote had an active police scanner in his vehicle when he was taken into custody, the probable cause statement said.

He was transported to Salt Lake County Jail with his bail set at $25,000.
