DAVIS COUNTY, June 28, 2026 (Gephardt Daily) — South Davis Metro Fire doused a Saturday night grass fire caused by a power transformer failure near Highway 177 North in an unincorporated area of Davis County.

Crews responded after being dispatched at about 9:30 p.m.,

“On arrival, crews found a fast moving grass fire in the Farmington Bay wetlands west of this location proving access would be difficult,” a SDMF news release says.

“Two additional brush trucks were requested and mutual aid received from Farmington Fire and Kaysville Fire.

“Firefighters were able to make access and have fire control within 30 minutes. Dubbed the ‘Line Fire,’ it was held to approximately one acre in size, thankfully, due to lower wind conditions with cooler temperatures and some moisture earlier in the day.”

No injuries or structural damage occurred. Resources at the scene included two chiefs ((Battalion 81, Chief 806); one Fire Warden (3A301), a medic engine, and three type six engines. A brush truck was canceled.
