SOUTH SALT LAKE, Utah, July 29, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — South Salt Lake Fire Department responded to a commercial fire Sunday night and took an offensive position to get the blaze extinguished as quickly as possible.

Battalion Chief Blaine Daimaru said the call came in at 9:33 p.m. reporting a fire at 3230 S. 400 East. That address is within a business complex, and Daimaru said he couldn’t confirm that the fire was actually at that specific location.

He said in addition to knocking down the fire, crews and medical personnel checked all the other businesses to make sure no one was inside. He said only one business was occupied and although the people did come out, it was far enough away from the fire to not be in harm’s way.

The fire was knocked down just after 10 p.m. and crews remained on scene to make sure there were no hot spots.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, and no estimate of damages was immediately available.
