SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Jan. 25, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Three people are in custody after a string of strong-arm robberies in Salt Lake City Wednesday night.

David Montoya, 20, Cameron Dallas, 18 and Kira Smith, 18, were all booked into jail for aggravated robbery, the Salt Lake City Police Department said in a news release Thursday.

The first incident occurred just before 10:15 p.m. in the area of 50 S. 300 East.

“The victim was walking carrying a bag of groceries,” the news release said. “A male exited a vehicle, brandished a handgun and demanded the groceries. The victim complied and the suspect got back into the vehicle and fled the scene.”

The victim was not able to give a description of the suspect or the suspect vehicle.

The second incident occurred at 11 p.m. in the area of 500 E. 300 South.

“A male victim was approached by two males,” the news release said. “One of them, a Hispanic male adult, brandished a gun and told the victim to give him his stuff or he would be shot. The victim complied and the suspects fled the scene.”

The third robbery occurred just before 11:45 p.m. in the area of 600 S. Elizabeth St. (1150 East). Similar to the second incident, a male victim was approached by two men, one of whom brandished a gun and told the victim to give him his belongings. The man turned over the items and was told to turn around and run which the victim complied.

The final robbery occurred at four minutes before midnight, in the area of 400 S. 200 East.

“Suspects matching the description of the previous robberies approached a male victim and ordered him to empty his pockets,” the news release said. “The victim ran out into the street to flag down help and the suspects fled on foot. The victim was able to flag down an officer and the suspect description and vehicle were sent out.”

A Utah Highway Patrol trooper was able to find the vehicle and a stop was made with the assistance of other patrol units. The occupants of the vehicle, Montoya, Dallas and Smith, were taken into custody and a handgun was recovered from the vehicle.
