Three Cars Destroyed in Early Morning Fire in West Valley

WEST VALLEY CITY, UTAH – August 30, 2015 (Gepahrdt Daily) – Three cars were destroyed in an early morning fire Sunday in West Valley City, shortly before another fire nearby killed three horses.

According to a press release from the West Valley City Fire Department, crews were dispatched to 5415 West 4060 South around 1:15 a.m. to respond to a residential fire.

When crews arrived, they found a carport containing three cars fully engulfed in flames. The fire had also spread from the carport and into the attic of the attached duplex.

The people inside the unit closest to the carport had been awakened by the smell of smoke and the noise of the fire.

Fire crews were able to quickly bring the fire under control, but the three cars were deemed a total loss. There were no injuries.

Damage from the fire is estimated at approximately $100,000 and cause of this fire is under investigation.
