EAST MILLCREEK, Utah, Aug. 22, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — The Unified Police Department is investigating after an early morning stabbing Monday in East Millcreek.

A man and his girlfriend were walking down the street in the area of 1620 Siggard Dr. at approximately 4:20 a.m., said Lt. Lex Bell, spokesman for the UPD.

The man then told police a dark-colored Nissan Altima stopped and after an altercation of some sort, the man was stabbed in the arm, Bell said. The victim told police three males in the Nissan Altima then fled.

The stabbing victim suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken to an area hospital for treatment, Bell said. The girlfriend of the suspect was unhurt.

Bell added that approximately 30 minutes later, police stopped a dark colored Nissan Altima in the area of 3900 S. 500 West. An officer tried to stop the vehicle and a pursuit ensued.

The pursuit was terminated approximately 10 blocks later in the area of 4400 S. 1535 West. Bell said speeds during the pursuit reached between 30 and 50 mph. Four occupants were apprehended, but it was then determined that they were not involved in the earlier stabbing.

The driver of the Nissan was arrested on charges of possession of a stolen vehicle, pursuit and outstanding warrants.

Bell said the other occupants of the vehicle were released.

Authorities are still searching for the vehicle whose occupants were involved in the stabbing.

Anyone with information on the stabbing is asked to contact the UPD at 385-468-9819.
