WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah, Aug. 31, 2021 (Gephardt Daily) — Officials have identified a man who died in a crash involving two semi trucks Monday morning in West Valley City.

The deceased has been identified as Al Fhuere, 29, of Nebraska, said a statement from Utah Highway Patrol.

The accident happened at 5600 W. State Route 201.

“At approximately 10 a.m., UHP dispatch center received two calls of a hazardous semi driving three to five miles per hour on SR-201 westbound at 5600 West,” a UHP statement said.

“Shortly after, they received a call of a crash. A semi in the right lane rear-ended the other, slow driving semi. The driver of the second semi was pronounced dead on scene by the fire department.”

SR-201 westbound was closed for a period after the crash and traffic was diverted to 5600 West.

It’s not clear at this stage why the semi was traveling so slowly.

Gephardt Daily will have more information as it becomes available.
