KANE COUNTY, Utah, June 2, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — The Utah Highway Patrol has identified a man and a woman who were killed when the motorcycle they were riding slammed into a pickup truck on State Route 89 Saturday afternoon.

According to a UHP news release, the victims have been identified as Charles G. Rau, 50, and Renee L. Chartier, 44, both from Kanab.

The deadly accident took place at about 2 p.m. near milepost 85 near Orderville, the news release states.

A Toyota Tacoma pickup was southbound on SR-89, and Rau and Chartier were behind the truck on a Harley-Davidson motorcycle.

When the Toyota stopped to turn left onto Frost Lane, the release says, the driver of the Harley-Davidson did not slow quickly enough and the motorcycle crashed into the rear of the truck.

Both riders were thrown from the bike and suffered fatal injuries.
