Update: Police ID 80-year-old woman dead after Ogden house fire

OGDEN, Utah, July 9, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Police have identified a woman who died in a structure fire June 27 in Ogden.

Ogden Police Lt. Brian Eynon told Gephardt Daily the deceased has been identified as Cho Soon Lahey, 80.

Eynon added the her exact cause of death has not been released but foul play is not suspected.

Fire crews responded to the 11:07 p.m. dispatch call and rushed to the scene, at 2016 Monroe Blvd., a statement from the Ogden Fire Department said at the time.

“Upon arrival, crews reported light smoke coming from (the) front of the home,” the statement said. “Crews made entry and extinguished the fire, which was isolated to one room of the home, within minutes.”

Additional crews searched the residence and found one person, later identified as Lahey.

“The patient was immediately transported to a local hospital, and unfortunately, resulted in a fatality,” the OFD statement says.

Smoke detectors with alarms sounding were found in the residence when officials arrived.

“The cause of the fire has not been determined and is under investigation,” the statement says. “Initial damage is estimated at $40,000.”

Eighteen firefighters responded with three ladder trucks, one engine, one paramedic rescue, one ambulance, one deputy fire marshal and the battalion chief, the statement said.
