MOAB, Utah, Oct. 29, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — The Moab City Police Department has identified a man who was shot and killed after an altercation at a trailer court in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Moab police said in a news release Edgar Luna Najera, of Moab, was shot multiple times, and was found dead at the scene.

Police responded to a trailer court in the area of 250 Walnut Lane after they received a call about a fight in progress at approximately 1:30 a.m.

Upon arrival, officers were contacted by a resident and taken to a trailer, “where they discovered an individual deceased from apparent multiple gunshot wounds,” a Moab police news release states.

According to the news release, five people were present at the scene of the shooting and fled in a black SUV. The SUV was found abandoned in Moab a short time later.

Four of the five individuals have been identified and questioned by police. The fifth person remains at large and is being sought for questioning.

“This individual is a person of interest in this homicide and caution should be used if he is located or observed,” the release says.

It is possible that Verduzco Lopez may have left the Moab area and headed to Grand Junction, Colo.

Information about the subject has been sent to surrounding states and U.S. Customs and Border Patrol.

“The Moab Police Department has been following up on multiple leads and has been greatly assisted by agents of the Utah State Bureau of Investigation,” the release says.
