RIVERTON, Utah, Oct. 9, 2025 (Gephardt Daily) — The motorcyclist killed Wednesday night in a crash on Bangerter Highway has been identified as 17-year-old Riverton High School senior Branson Davis.

According to the Utah Highway Patrol, the crash occurred about 7 p.m. on eastbound Bangerter Highway near 2700 West. Sgt. Mike Alexander told Gephardt Daily the motorcycle, ridden by a single male, struck a crash attenuator while merging between the main flow of traffic and the on-ramp.

Davis, who was part of a group of motorcyclists traveling in the area, died at the scene. No other riders or motorists were injured, Alexander said.

In a message to families Thursday, Riverton High administrators confirmed Davis’ identity and offered support to the community.

“Sadly, one of our 12th grade students, Branson Davis, died yesterday in a motorcycle accident,” the statement read. “We join you in mourning this loss. Branson will be dearly missed. Our hearts are with his family, friends, and neighbors at this difficult time.”

The school said counselors will be available to support students and staff, and provided information about mental health resources, including the 988 crisis line and the SafeUT app.

“Branson will always be a part of our Silverwolf family and will be dearly missed,” the message said.
