Utah COVID-19 update: 2 deaths, 668 new cases since Tuesday

UTAH, July 8, 2021 (Gephardt Daily) — The Utah Department of Health on Thursday reported 668 new COVID-19 cases and two more deaths since Wednesday.

Total Utah cases now stand at 418,321. Total deaths here number 2,389.

The two newly documented deaths were of:

  • A male, between 45-64, Salt Lake County resident, not hospitalized at time of death
  • A male, older than 85, Salt Lake County resident, not hospitalized at time of death

One of the deaths occurred before June 1, UDoH said.

Vaccinations now number 2,895,700, an increase of 5,606 since Wednesday.

People tested in Utah for the coronavirus now number 2,821,170, an increase of 4,722 tested since Wednesday.

Tests administered number 5,149,390, an increase of 8,350 since Wednesday.

The rolling seven-day average for positive tests is 379 per day. The rolling seven-day average for percent positivity of “people over people” is 11.9%. The rolling seven-day average for percent positivity of “tests over tests” is 8%.

There are 230 people currently hospitalized with COVID-19. Total hospitalizations from the beginning of the outbreak are 17,727.
