SOUTH SALT LAKE, UTAH – July 6, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) – A South Salt Lake power outage caused a car to barrel through a non-functioning red light at 2100 S. State Street at around 10:30 a.m. Monday.

SLCPD said a car that was traveling north on state street was hit by another that was crossing State Street westbound, which sent the northbound car, or a piece of the car, into a cart a woman crossing State Street  was pushing. The cart then hit the woman causing minor injuries. As a precaution she was transported to hospital by ground ambulance.

No one else was injured in the accident. The driver who was headed west on 2100 South was cited for failure to treat the intersection as a four way stop.

Approximately 1,290 customers are currently without power in the zip code 84115. The power outage was caused by another vehicle accident. On site repairs are underway and the estimated time of restoration is 1 p.m.

We will have more updates as they become available.

  1. The article says that a car barreled through the light and hit another car that was crossing State Street on 2100 South. The police report did not read the same. The witnesses testimony maybe influential in helping resolve what really happened. The driver of the car that was hit and forced into the pedestrians in the crosswalk was cited for not yielding right of way. If anyone has more information about the accident it would be very helpful.
