Vernal police seek assistance locating suspect after stabbing at residence

VERNAL, Utah, Sept. 13, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Vernal police are searching for a suspect after a stabbing at a residence Thursday.

Officers were dispatched to the home, which is near Ashley Regional Medical Center at 150 W. 100 North, Vernal City Police said in a news release on Facebook. Upon arrival, officers found that three people had been assaulted and received injuries and at least one person was stabbed by an unknown assailant.

The victims were transported to the hospital nearby, and one victim was transported to the Wasatch Front for treatment, the news release said.

Half an hour before the stabbing incident, Vernal City officers were dispatched to a suspicious person the same area as the stabbing, and the complainant’s description was consistent with the suspect in this case.

Vernal Police investigators obtained camera footage which provided more information on the potential suspect.

The Vernal City Police Department is seeking information about people seen walking through the area surrounding the hospital between the hours of 1 a.m. and 5 a.m. The suspect is described as a man wearing all black.

It’s not known at this early stage if the suspect and the victims were known to each other.
