SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Sept. 1, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — A TRAX train and a West Jordan Police vehicle collided Thursday afternoon near the University of Utah’s Rice-Eccles Stadium.

The accident happened at about 3:40 p.m., and blocked both tracks. Only minor injuries were reported, according to Utah Transit Authority spokesman Remi Barron.

“The West Jordan Police vehicle somehow got in the path of the train, and was struck,” Barron said.

“The officer in the car had minor injuries. He may have had a little shoulder pain. They took him to the University Hospital to check him out.”

TRAX trains were rerouted during the investigation. The scene was cleared at about 4:30 p.m., and Barron said normal schedules and routes were back in effect.
