SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Jan. 16, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A man is in serious condition after his arm became stuck in a machine at a Salt Lake City bakery Wednesday afternoon.

Salt Lake City Fire Department Capt. Adam Archuleta told Gephardt Daily the incident occurred at Stone Ground Bakery at 1025 S. 700 West at approximately 2 p.m.

The man, who is approximately 50 years old, got his arm stuck in a bread making machine, Archuleta said.

Other employees turned the power off to the machine and called 911.

Archuleta said crews rendered medical care on arrival while other firefighters dismantled the machine the man’s arm was stuck in.

When the man’s arm was freed from the machine, he was given further medical treatment and transported to a trauma facility at the University of Utah Hospital.

It’s not clear at this time whether the man’s arm will need to be amputated, Archuleta said.
