WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah, Aug. 24, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — A West Valley City mobile home is a total loss after a fire Wednesday morning.
Crews are working on the clean up after the blaze that destroyed the mobile home, at 7100 Palomino Drive, West Valley City Fire Department said in a Twitter post at 10 a.m. The fire started at about 6:45 a.m. in the back portion of the home.
The home was destroyed, with half burned and half badly damaged, according to fire officials. Crews arrived to find flames pouring out the back window and black smoke filling the home.
The three adults and two children in the home all got out safely. Two of those adults and both children suffered smoke inhalation, but were treated and released on scene.
Two dogs are still missing; one escaped the home and has not been located, the other is still unaccounted for.
Fire officials said the blaze was difficult to extinguish because of the large amount of clutter in the home, which made it harder to find all the flames.
Investigators are working to determine a cause, and it is not yet known whether the fire will be classified as suspicious.
The Red Cross is assisting the displaced occupants.
